(Canastota, NY \u2013 Sept. 2015) October is traditionally a very busy month at the library.\u00a0 This year is no different for us. This month, we\u2019ve got our Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale, our children and teen programs are starting and we\u2019ve added in some special programs for your enjoyment.\u00a0 We hope that you get in to see us at the library this month.<\/p>\n

The Friends of the Canastota Public Library will hold the annual sale at the end of the month.\u00a0 The sale will be held in the lower level of the library on the following days:\u00a0 Thursday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Friends have a nice variety of gently used books in all genres, books on CD, DVDs, VHS movies, music CDs and much more for this sale.\u00a0 As always, these items are priced very reasonably.<\/p>\n

Our regular children\u2019s programming begins again this month.\u00a0 Baby & Me Lapsit with Miss Angela will be held each Wednesday morning beginning at 10am from Oct. 7 through Dec. 16.\u00a0 This is for babies, up to age 24 months and their caregivers.<\/p>\n

Storytime with Mrs. Liz will begin on Thursdays in October.\u00a0 Preschoolers will enjoy read-aloud stories, games, crafts and a snack.\u00a0 The fun begins at 10 a.m. in the Children\u2019s Area. \u00a0Storytime will run from Oct. 8 through Dec. 17.<\/p>\n

For teens, our Anime\/Manga group begins again on Friday, Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m.\u00a0 This group watches anime, reads manga and enjoys related activities.\u00a0 The group is open to students in grades 6 and up.<\/p>\n

If you love baseball, you\u2019ll want to be at the library on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. for \u201cTake Me Out to the Ball Game\u201d with Vince Doty.\u00a0 We\u2019ll open with a little Ernest Thayer, then we\u2019ll talk about Works Series history, baseball card history and some of the greatest players of the game. We\u2019ll also have Cracker Jacks.<\/p>\n

The library will be holding an Artist\u2019s Reception on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. for our Artists of the Month, Maria and John Seely.\u00a0 This couple looks at subjects in very different ways.\u00a0 Maria is an abstract artist who is constantly exploring new materials and techniques to create while her husband John relies on realistic interpretation of what the eye sees.\u00a0 Join these two artists, who happen to be husband and wife for their Artist\u2019s Reception.\u00a0 Meet them and see their wonderful artistic expressions.<\/p>\n

Most of these programs are in the first two weeks of October.\u00a0 There will be more to come.\u00a0 We hope to see you at the Canastota Public Library.<\/p>\n
