We will also be closing early (at 4:30 p.m.) on Thursday Oct. 15 for a Staff Development Evening.<\/p>\n<p>Some days it is tough to have the time to put together a healthy meal for the family.\u00a0 Join Angela Rigler on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 6pm for Easy Freezer Meals.\u00a0 Freezer meals can be a quick and easy way for busy families to get good, wholesome meals on the table quickly.\u00a0 All you need is a little extra time once a month to do some prep work.\u00a0 Angela has scoured cookbooks and the internet looking for those recipes to help you eat well this fall and winter.\u00a0 Angela will share tips, recipes and some variations on freezer meal preparation that your family is sure to love.<\/p>\n<p>The second Canalside Talk for the year will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7pm.\u00a0 Tony Wonderley, Ph.D., curator of collections at the Oneida Community Mansion House will talk about the Oneida Community.\u00a0 He will provide an illustrated introduction to the most radical utopia in American history.\u00a0 The talk will delve into why the Perfectionists of Oneida were the scandal of Victorian America and why they called themselves communists while achieving success as industrial capitalists.\u00a0 The talk showcases the Oneida Mansion House and their company that eventually became the world\u2019s largest manufacturer of silverware. Wonderley is a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow and a Fellow of the New York State Archeological Association.\u00a0 He publishes widely on New York archology, Native American mythology and the Oneida Community.\u00a0 Canalside Talks are done in cooperation with the Canastota Canal Town Museum and the Library.\u00a0 These events are always free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Girl You Left Behind,\u201d by Jojo Moyes is the book for the Oct. Book Chat.\u00a0 The Book Chat group will meet to discuss this book on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 1pm.\u00a0 This is a story of love, loss and sacrifice told with Moyes\u2019 signature ability to capture our hearts.\u00a0 Light refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n<p>Return to the library at 7pm on Tuesday, Oct. 27 for \u201cPerfectly Petrifying Poe.\u201d Join Vince Doty as he shares his favorite Edgar Allan Poe pieces to get you in the spirit of Halloween.\u00a0 Learn about this famous author, poet, editor and literary critic whose works like The Raven have mesmerized readers for 175 years.\u00a0 This program is geared towards middle school and older as it may include some of Poe\u2019s more frightening tales.<\/p>\n<p>Please remember to patronize our Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale which will be held on Oct. 29, 30 and 31.\u00a0 The sale will operate in the lower level of the library on those days.\u00a0 Our inventory is large and includes gently used books in hardcover and softcover in many genres.\u00a0 As well, we will have books on CD, movies on both VHS and DVDs, puzzles and much more.\u00a0 There are currently over six raffle baskets on display on the first floor which will be raffled at the end of the book sale.\u00a0 The sale will be held at the following times:\u00a0 Thursday, Oct. 29:\u00a0 9am \u2013 8:30pm; Friday, Oct. 30:\u00a0 9am \u2013 5pm and Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10am \u2013 4pm.\u00a0 We hope you will stop by and stock up on your reading materials.\u00a0 The prices are very reasonable! All proceeds will be donated to the library for library and programming needs.<\/p>\n<p>The Canastota Public Library, located at 102 W.
