\"Church<\/a>(Cazenovia, NY \u2013 Nov. 2015) The First Presbyterian Church in Cazenovia will celebrate the second\u00a0 Sunday of the Advent Season on Dec. 6 at its morning worship service at 10 am.\u00a0 The Candles representing the \u00a0Wonder of the Season, and the next candle, the Wonder of the Promise will be lit on Advent wreath followed \u00a0by a litany from the congregation and a choral response from the Senior Choir.\u00a0 The public is invited.<\/p>\n

The service will feature Christmas in Brass with trumpeters Nathan Kaercher and Aaron Velardi playing the Fanfare and Variations on Noel Nouvelet by Raymond H. Haan as the prelude and Christmas Angels by Felix Mendelssohn as the postlude.\u00a0 They will also be accompanying the congregation on favorite carols as well the choral anthem Emmanuel by Noel Goemanne. \u00a0Both Nathan and Aaron are music teachers in the Chittenango Central School District.<\/p>\n

The Dr.Reverend Virginia B. \u201cGinny\u201d Smith will deliver the message The Cry That Heralds Life.\u00a0\u00a0 Reverend Smith is retired after 33 years of ordained ministry in the Presbyterian Church, having served most recently as the Associate Executive Presbyter for Ministry in the Chicago Presbytery. \u00a0She received her Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, NJ, and her Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Ill.\u00a0 She is currently on the staff at the Spiritual Renewal Center in Syracuse, NY, as a spiritual director and workshop leader.<\/p>\n

The word Advent means “coming” or “arrival.” The focus of the entire season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent.\u00a0 Advent is marked by a spirit of expectation, of anticipation, of preparation, of longing, of hope. \u00a0.\u00a0 In a world that seldom slows, Advent is an opportunity to still our hearts and open our eyes to the wonder and majesty of the season.<\/p>\n

Child Care and Sunday School are available during the service.<\/p>\n
