Traffic stop leads to gun and drug charges in Verona<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"state-police-seal-150x150\"<\/a>\u00a0(Town of Verona, NY \u2013 Nov. 28, 2015) Oneida based state police charged Bobby J. Campbell, age 34, of Carrboro, N.C. with illegal possession of a handgun after a traffic stop in the Town of Verona.<\/p>\n

At approximately 12:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Trooper Joseph Leworthy stopped a 1999 Ford pickup truck for speeding on State Route 365 in Verona.\u00a0 While interviewing the driver (Campbell), the trooper observed pistol ammunition in the center console of the truck.\u00a0 After further questioning by the trooper, Campbell admitted to purchasing a handgun in North Carolina and carrying it in his vehicle when he travelled to New York to visit relatives. A search revealed a fully loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm semi automatic pistol with an extra loaded magazine in the cab of the pickup truck.\u00a0 A small baggie containing a quantity of marijuana was also located inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Campbell was arrested and transported to the SP Oneida barracks for processing.\u00a0 Campbell was arraigned in the Town of Verona Court on the charges of\u00a0second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a\u00a0class C felony, along with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and speeding.\u00a0 Campbell posted $4,400 cash bail and is scheduled to reappear in Verona court Dec. 1.<\/p>\n

\"Oneida<\/a>(Oneida, NY \u2013 Nov. 30, 2015) Brandy L. Schultheis, 32, of N. Broad Street, Oneida was charged on Nov. 25 with second-degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Petit Larceny. She is alleged to have stolen merchandise from Dollar General.<\/p>\n

Franklin J. Marshall, 25, of Main Street, Oneida was charged Nov. 29 with Petit Larceny. He is alleged to have stolen merchandise from Dollar General.<\/p>\n

Justin T. Smith, 19 and Mary L. Smith, 45, of Clockville Road, Canastota were charged Nov. 27 with Petit Larceny. They are alleged to have stolen property from another person.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
