\"CQL\"<\/a>(Oneida, NY \u2013 Jan. 2016) The Arc of Madison Cortland has announced that The Arc of Madison Cortland has been awarded the three year CQL Quality Assurances Accreditation from<\/p>\n

CQL| The Council on Quality and Leadership. This award confirms that the organization shares CQL\u2019s vision for person-centered solutions to improve the quality of life for people receiving supports and services.<\/p>\n

The Arc of Madison Cortland provides programs and supports for over 1,000 people with developmental disabilities in Madison and Cortland counties.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe process of becoming CQL Accredited took over two years,\u201d said, Jack Campbell, Executive Director for The Arc of Madison Cortland, \u201cI have to thank all the family members, self advocates, board members, and staff that truly dissected every aspect of this organization to ensure that we are doing the best that we possibly can for the people who receive support from The Arc of Madison Cortland.\u201d<\/p>\n

When The Arc of Madison Cortland partnered with CQL to pursue accreditation, it undertook a rigorous process to review and improve services and supports.\u00a0 The Arc of Madison Cortland\u2019s \u00a0efforts were focused on empowering the people who receive support from their organization to make choices in how they live their lives \u2026 where they work, where they live, how they create a community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a demanding and a rewarding experience.\u00a0 Within the framework of CQL, the people we support here at the Arc are becoming empowered to direct their own lives as they see fit \u2013 that\u2019s the meaning of a person-centered approach.\u201d said \u00a0Barbara McDermott, Assistant Executive Director and Compliance Office for The Arc of Madison Cortland \u00a0\u201cWe have a lot of work left to do, and we plan on enjoying it as we help people grow and become more involved and accepted in their community. \u201d<\/p>\n

The Arc of Madison Cortland has been awarded CQL accreditation as a result of demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:<\/p>\n

*Basic Assurances ( ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety and human security)<\/p>\n

*Personal Outcome Measures\u00ae (supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams)<\/p>\n

*Person-centered Excellence (demonstrating organizational commitment to continued enhancement of systems directly related to person-centered services)<\/p>\n
