(Morrisville, NY \u2013 Feb. 2016) The Morrisville State College athletic department has announced its weekly award winners, naming junior Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) and senior Ibrahima Toure (Brooklyn, N.Y.) the Mustangs Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 31.<\/p>\n

Anderson led the women\u2019s basketball team to a 2-0 week, as the Mustangs posted two critical wins within conference play. Anderson started the week with a 22-point performance against Wells, 15 points of which were in the second half as the Mustangs staged a 22-point comeback against the Express to capture the 72-69 victory. In the contest, Anderson shot 41.7% from the floor and was perfect from the free throw line, hitting all 12 attempts, including nine in the second half (two in the closing seconds to seal the win). She added four assists and five steals to her tallies in the win.<\/p>\n

Anderson followed that performance with a 17-point outing against Keuka College Saturday in the 59-41 NEAC victory, adding six rebounds, seven assists and four steals. In that same contest, Anderson’s second bucket of the game put her at the top of the Mustang record books as the all-time leading scorer in Morrisville State women’s basketball history.<\/p>\n

On the week, the junior averaged 19.5 points per game, hit 40% from the floor, 88.9% from the free throw line, and contributed 4.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game to put the Mustangs in second in the NEAC standings in the North Division.<\/p>\n

The junior is a graduate of Unadilla Valley High and is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Steve and Wendy Anderson of West Edmeston.<\/p>\n

Ibrahima Toure<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Toure led Morrisville State to a 2-0 week as they captured two wins within conference play behind his team high 25.0 point average per game. Toure started off the week with a 24-point, seven rebound performance in the 90-75 win over Wells. In the contest he shot 69.2% from the floor and 83.3% from the free throw line, while adding two assists and two steals to his tallies.<\/p>\n

Toure followed that performance with a 26-point, seven rebound outing against Keuka, adding an assist to his tallies as the Mustangs captured the 86-65 victory.<\/p>\n

Across the week, he averaged 28 minutes per game played, shot 69% from the floor, 50% from beyond the arc, and 88.9% from the free throw line, while contributing 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game.<\/p>\n

A graduate of Brooklyn High School for Law and Technology, Toure is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Mohamed Toure of Brooklyn.<\/p>\n
