(Hamilton, NY \u2013 Feb. 2016) Officer Jermaine Galloway, a nationally recognized authority on teen alcohol and substance abuse, will offer his award winning presentation, \u201cCurrent Trends in Substance Abuse,\u201d at the Colgate Inn Monday March 7.<\/p>\n
Hosted by the Hamilton Area Community Coalition (HACC), Galloway will address parents and community leaders on the latest trends in underage drug and alcohol use, and offer a roadmap to understanding these sweeping changes in order to counteract them.<\/p>\n
The HACC is honored to host Officer Galloway and in this manner provide the Hamilton community with authoritative information on the issues facing young people today.\u00a0 Underage drinking and drug use has a significant impact on the entire community, from stretching the resources of our hospital and police department to creating an atmosphere conducive to our teens engaging in risky behaviors. By understanding the challenges facing our young people, we can maintain and strengthen a community environment supportive of safe and healthy behaviors.<\/p>\n
Two events will be held, a morning session from 9 to 11 a.m. and an evening session from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Both events will be similar, with the morning session geared toward professionals and the evening session toward parents and the greater community.<\/p>\n
Both events are free of charge, and open all.<\/p>\n

It is the mission of the HACC to actively educate and encourage the Hamilton community to recognize the impact of alcohol and other drug abuse on our youth which negatively impacts healthy lifestyles and a vibrant community.<\/p>\n
