Flick, site director of the Matilda Joslyn Gage Center will present a program on Gage and the women\u2019s movement.\u00a0 In this presentation, Flick will discuss political conflicts between Gage and Susan B. Anthony.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Syracuse University\u2019s Maxwell School, Flick is a passionate women\u2019s rights advocate.\u00a0 She has been Site Director at the Gage Foundation in Fayetteville for almost two years.\u00a0 The talk will be held on the second floor of the library and will last about an hour.\u00a0 It will be followed by a question and answer period.<\/p>\n<p>There is quite a lot going on at the library this month including a quilt show, regular weekly programming, our book chat and more.\u00a0 Our regular weekly programming can be found listed on our website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canastotalibrary.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.canastotalibrary.org<\/a>.\u00a0 Our special programs include the quilt show, a pet basics class and the Rebecca Eddy Memorial Writing Contest.<\/p>\n<p>The Lawson Room walls in the lower level of the library are displaying some gorgeous quilts this month.\u00a0 The Thread Bear Quilters Guild meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm at St. Helena\u2019s Church in Sherrill, NY.\u00a0 These lovely ladies have created the heart-warming quilts that you will find on the walls of the library!\u00a0 According to their Facebook page, new members are always welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Our volunteer tax consultant, through Cornell Cooperative Extension, Harry Hood, will be at the library again this year to help those who are 60 and older with tax services.\u00a0 The hours for tax help will be Friday mornings beginning February 5th from 9am until noon.\u00a0 Help is offered on a first come, first serve basis. Select appointments will be available for Friday afternoon time slots.<\/p>\n<p>Tax forms are also here at the library for those who prefer to prepare their own taxes, we do have a very limited quantity of New York State Tax forms and Federal Tax forms as well. You can always use our available bank of computers to prepare your taxes online or if you\u2019d prefer, tax forms can be viewed and printed here at the library. Printing costs are ten cents per page.<\/p>\n<p>Join us for \u201cThe Basics, a Healthy Pet Project\u201d on Saturday, March 26 from 12:30pm \u2013 3:30pm.\u00a0 \u201cThe Basics helps us to be prepared pet owners.\u00a0 The program will review the most common health conditions, household items that are poisonous to our pets, nail care and a brief review of first aid for your pet.\u00a0 Participants will receive a free Pet First Aid Kit.\u00a0 The Healthy Pet Project is a part of the UPSTATE Health Sciences Library and is funded by an award from the National Networks of the Library of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Regions.\u00a0 There is no fee for the program however, due to limited space, you must RSVP to the library if you want to attend \u201cThe Basics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, March 26 at 1pm, the Book Chat will meet to discuss \u201cSnow Flower and the Secret Fan\u201d by Lisa See.
