And our adult learners work hard to bring their educational goals to fruition, meeting regularly with tutors and doing homework in between.\u00a0 And, of course,\u00a0all of our work would be impossible without the dedication of our wonderful volunteers.\u00a0 Cazenovia Public Library is a special place to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cazenovia Public Library Literacy Outreach\u00a0has provided free literacy services since 2006, operating literacy programs\u00a0in partnerships with CazCares, Madison County Reads Ahead \u00a0(MCRA) and New Woodstock Free Library.\u00a0 The Story Room Family Literacy Program is a learning-focused family center at\u00a0<a title=\"Caz Cares Homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/cazcares.org\/Welcome.html\" target=\"_blank\">CazCares Food Pantry<\/a>\u00a0that provides early literacy, adult literacy and parenting programs.\u00a0 Adult Literacy programs provide a network of trained MCRA volunteer tutors foreducational\u00a0services on site and at two satellite locations: CazCares Food Pantry and New Woodstock Free Library.\u00a0 Tutors work one-on-one or in a small group setting with learners in Adult Basic Education (ABE\/learn to read), English as a\u00a0Second Language (ESL), and preparation for the\u00a0TASC examination (NYS highschool equivalency program, formerly GED).\u00a0 Literacy Outreach also acts as a\u00a0referral source for educational and career services programs in Madison County.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past year, Cazenovia Public Library Literacy Outreach has gained national attention, with libraries across the United States registering for the webinar \u201cFamily Literacy In a Food Pantry\u201d presented by library director Betsy Kennedy, which outlines the library\u2019s model for providing literacy services on a small budget at a local food pantry.<\/p>\n<p>Literacy coordinator and educator Carla Zimmerman has been instrumental in the expansion of Literacy Outreach services. \u201cI know Marli will be a huge asset to our Literacy Outreach at Cazenovia Public Library,\u201d says Zimmerman, \u201cas our library literacy programs continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know Marli will be a huge asset to our Literacy Outreach at Cazenovia Public Library,\u201d Zimmerman said, \u201cas our library literacy programs continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Library literacy programs are always in need of volunteers.
