The Colgate men’s hockey program and the Silver Puck Club honored Murray Decock \u201980 with the Silver Puck Award on Saturday<\/span> night at the Hall of Presidents on campus.<\/p>\n

Decock has been closely associated with Colgate Men\u2019s Ice Hockey for nearly 40 years, ever since his arrival on campus as a freshman in the fall of 1976.<\/p>\n

A four-year member of the program, Decock appeared in 115 games for the Raiders, compiling 91 points on 40 goals and 51 assists. His best season came during his junior campaign of 1978-79 when he tallied 33 points (16g,17a) in 28 games.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot think of a more worthy recipient of the Silver Puck Award than Murray Decock,\u201d Colgate Head Coach Don Vaughan said. \u201cMurray has a passion for Colgate that is second to none. His hard work and commitment to excellence have allowed not only the men\u2019s hockey program, but also the entire Colgate community, to thrive and prosper. We are appreciative of all that he does to make Colgate such a special place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Decock served as vice president for the Office of Institutional Advancement at Colgate since 2002 and was promoted to senior vice president for External Relations, Advancement and Initiatives last July.<\/p>\n

In his role, Decock has been instrumental in engaging Colgate alumni and parents to support institutional priorities, including the planning and construction of the Raiders\u2019 new facility, The Class of 1965 Arena.\u00a0 The state-of-the-art arena is set to open in October and will serve as home of both the Raider men\u2019s and women\u2019s ice hockey teams. The facility will also have locker room space and coaches offices for the men\u2019s and women\u2019s lacrosse and soccer teams.<\/p>\n

The Silver Puck Award is given by the club to a person or persons whose continued support and contributions to the Colgate Men\u2019s Ice Hockey program warrant special recognition and applause. The award is puck-sized and silver-plated, weighing three pounds and inscribed with the recipient\u2019s name.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
