If so, join Friends of Rogers (FOR) on March 19 for the second of three Trail Treks, where guests will go on an “Adam’s Farm Adventure” journey into a hemlock forest to reflect on the trees’ history.

“I’m confident that people will look at the forest with a new perspective after this program,” said Naturalist Intern Matt Nusstein. “It should be a fun and exciting alternative to ‘just hiking through the woods.’”

Trail Treks begin at 10 a.m. and last approximately two hours. Guests should meet in the main parking lot at Rogers Center, where carpooling will take place, if necessary, to the various trailheads. While the program is free of charge, a $3 donation is suggested to help fund future programs.

Anyone hoping to stay inside that day is in luck as well, as FOR will be hosting Spring Bingo. This special edition Family Fun program is made possible thanks to the generosity of Clyde’s Little Red Barn in Earlville. Their financial support means that bingo cards will be available for free during this program.

“We are extremely grateful to Clyde’s Little Red Barn for partnering with us,” said Simon Solomon, FOR executive director. “Since 2011, when Friends of Rogers saved Rogers Environmental Education Center from closing, we have relied on the generosity of local businesses like Clyde’s to support community activities, allowing this vital resource to be preserved – and to flourish.”

Family Fun programs are held at 10:30 a.m. on the first and third Saturday of every month and last approximately one hour. While there is no charge, Friends of Rogers encourages contributions to support future operations. Recent events have included Family Snowshoe, For the Birds! and Skull Science. Family Fun programs are an opportunity for visitors of all ages to experience hands on learning and exploration of the natural environment.

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for all ages.
