\"mmz\"<\/a>The Oneida City School District community is invited to meet the Board of Education\u2019s finalist\u00a0for the position of superintendent of schools on March 14. The candidate\u2019s full-day visit will\u00a0include meetings with constituent groups during the day and a community forum in the\u00a0evening.<\/p>\n

Over the past month, the board has reviewed the credentials and applications of 10 candidates. As the result of a multi-step interview process and thoughtful deliberation, the\u00a0Board selected Ms. Mary-Margaret Zehr as its finalist for superintendent of schools. The\u00a0Board has planned a full day of activities on March 14, including a tour of the school facilities\u00a0and meetings with student representatives, community members, parents and the\u00a0administrative, teaching and non-instructional staff.<\/p>\n

During the community forum, to be held\u00a0from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Costello Transportation Center, Zehr will introduce herself to the\u00a0community and respond to questions from those in attendance. She will also be asked to\u00a0present her vision for the Oneida City School District if chosen as the new superintendent.<\/p>\n

Following a review of the input received during this visit, the Board anticipates making an\u00a0appointment of a new Superintendent within a late March, early April timeframe.<\/p>\n

Zehr currently serves as the assistant superintendent of the Watertown\u00a0City School District, a position she has held since 2010. She previously served as superintendent of the Copenhagen Central School District and she has held secondary\u00a0principal positions in the General Brown, South Jefferson and Beaver River school districts, as\u00a0well as a K-12 principal\/CSE chair position in Copenhagen. Prior to holding a leadership role,\u00a0she served as a Social Studies teacher in the Watertown and Copenhagen districts. Ms. Zehr\u00a0is in the current cohort of the New York State Council of School Superintendents Future\u00a0Superintendents Academy and has co-taught Educational Administration courses at SUNY\u00a0Oswego. Ms. Zehr holds a BS in Elementary and early Secondary Education from SUNY\u00a0Cortland, an MA in Social Studies and International Education from New York University and a\u00a0CAS in Educational Administration from SUNY Oswego.<\/p>\n

Prior to holding a leadership role,\u00a0she served as a Social Studies teacher in the Watertown and Copenhagen districts. Zehr\u00a0is in the current cohort of the New York State Council of School Superintendents Future\u00a0Superintendents Academy and has co-taught educational administration courses at SUNY\u00a0Oswego.<\/p>\n

She holds a bachelor of science in elementary and early secondary education from SUNY\u00a0Cortland, a master of arts in social studies and international education from New York University and a certificate of advanced study in educational administration from SUNY Oswego.<\/p>\n
