Easter is the most joyful time of the church year. Celebrated against the background of the\u00a0shadows and darkness of Lent and Holy Week, this season truly becomes a living expression of the hope that\u00a0God has brought into the world through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Probably the most traditional way of celebrating Easter is through special<!--more--> music and song. At The First\u00a0Presbyterian Church of Cazenovia, Music Director Vince Guareiri has planned a special program of music.<\/p>\n<p>The organ prelude will be \u201cFanfare and Variations on \u2018Now The Green Balde Riseth\u2019\u201d by Raymond H. Haan.\u00a0The Senior Choir Anthem will be \u201cBe Joyful Together\u201d by J. S. Bach. The organ postlude will be \u201cGigue\u00a0Fugue\u201d by J.S. Bach.\u00a0Trumpet players, Kevin Johnson and Derek White will not only play with the organ on the prelude and\u00a0accompany with choir\u2019s anthem but will also give accompaniment to the hymns: \u201cJesus Christ Is Risen Today\u201d;\u00a0\u201cThe Strife Is O\u2019er\u201d and \u201cChrist Is Risen! Shout Hosanna!\u201dJohnson has worked in the Cazenovia School\u00a0District for 13 years. He conducts the<\/p>\n<p>Johnson has worked in the Cazenovia School\u00a0District for 13 years. He conducts the 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 9-12 grade Concert Band, 9-12 grade\u00a0Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, Pep Band and Marching Band. In addition, he teaches 5-12 grade lessons.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson started working at Cazenovia right after he completed his Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Music Education from\u00a0the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. Johnson also went to the Crane School for his Master&#8217;s Degree\u00a0in Music Education. In addition to his work in Cazenovia, Johnson is also an adjudicator of soloists and\u00a0ensembles throughout the state. Derek White is a senior who will be graduating and plans to attend Clarkson<\/p>\n<p>Derek White is a senior who will be graduating and plans to attend Clarkson\u00a0University where he will play Lacrosse and major in Logistics. He has played trumpet at Cazenovia for 8 years\u00a0as a member of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra and Pep\/Marching Band. He is a member of the\u00a0Tri-M Music Honor Society at Cazenovia and also plays Varsity Lacrosse and Soccer.<\/p>\n<p>The center of the service will be the message by Reverend George VanArnam. VanArnam\u2019s message\u00a0\u201cSomething There Is That Doesn\u2019t Love A Wall.\u201d is from the poem Mending Wall by Robert Frost. He will\u00a0consider how resurrection undermines the walls that we build between nations, races, urban-suburban, men-women, old-young, and even within ourselves. Reverend VanArnam is the former Director of the Samaritan\u00a0Counseling Center in Utica. He and his wife, Peggy are long-time residents of Cazenovia.George and Peggy\u00a0have sold their house and will be moving to North Carolina in April. So this will probably be Reverend\u00a0VanArnam\u2019s last sermon preached in Cazenovia. The Cazenovia community wishes George and Peggy a\u00a0wonderful new chapter in their lives as they move to be near their children. We will miss both of them.<\/p>\n<p>George and Peggy\u00a0have sold their house and will be moving to North Carolina in April.
