This is not an arbitrary date, but a representation of just how far into the year women must work to match their male coworkers\u2019 earnings from the previous year. Here in Onondaga County, where almost 40,000 households are dependent on a mother\u2019s income, women earn a startling $132 less per week than their male counterparts.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While New York State has made significant gains for women\u2019s rights, it is clear that the fight for equal pay for equal work is not yet over. That\u2019s why I once again helped the Assembly pass legislation aimed at ensuring pay equity for New York\u2019s hardworking women.<\/p>\n<p>Not only will this legislation bring attention to the persistent wage gap, but it will help to correct any inequities in our community and across the state.
