According to the United States Fish and Wildlife\u00a0Service, up to 41 million people \u2013 20 percent of the population \u2013 are considered \u201cbirders.\u201d These nature-lovers maintain\u00a0feeders and install bird baths for avian guests; some even incorporate nest boxes into their yards for birds to rest in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA portion of birders take trips away from home to participate in bird-watching, but backyard bird-watching around\u00a0one\u2019s home is the most popular form for sure,\u201d said Friends of Rogers naturalist intern Matt Nusstein.\u00a0With bird-watching increasing in popularity, it is helpful for birders to understand what factors help and hinder the\u00a0chances of their own property becoming a go-to spot for our feathered friends. It\u2019s a must<!--more--> for bird-watching enthusiasts, or anyone looking to pick up a new hobby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This unique presentation is made possible thanks to the generosity of Evergreene Graphics in Greene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely grateful to Evergreene Graphics for partnering with us,\u201d said Simon Solomon, FOR executive director.\u00a0\u201cSince 2011, when Friends of Rogers saved Rogers Environmental Education Center from closing, we have relied on the generosity of local businesses like Evergreene Graphics to support community activities, allowing this vital resource to be preserved \u2013 and to flourish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreating a Bird Friendly Yard\u201d will be held in the Visitor Center on state Route 80 in Sherburne; those needing to may\u00a0use the adjacent parking lot, and the center is accessible. While there is no charge for admittance, a donation is\u00a0suggested in order to help support future programs at Friends of Rogers.<\/p>\n<p>Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers\u00a0Environmental\u00a0Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that\u00a0offers educational programs for all ages. Seasonal winter hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through\u00a0Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
