The event raised more than $135,000 for the Go Red For Women campaign. The luncheon was sponsored nationally by Macy\u2019s, along with local signature sponsor First Source\u00a0Federal Credit Union.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s luncheon recognized the area\u2019s first-ever Go Red Survivor Class. The class\u00a0features eight local women who are survivors of heart disease and stroke. Survivor Class\u00a0member Ondrea Grippe-Getz, who had open heart surgery nearly 30 years ago, and her mother\u00a0Donna Grippe, shared their family\u2019s story. Both women say they are impressed by the\u00a0advancements in technology and research since the time of Ondrea\u2019s surgery at 7 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Before the luncheon got underway, attendees had the opportunity to attend a heart\u00a0health fair to learn about stress management, healthy cooking, their personal risk of stroke and\u00a0much more.<\/p>\n<p>The chairwoman of the 2016 Go Red For Women campaign was Joanne Donaruma\u00a0Wade. \u201cMy community is why I am proud to be involved with Go Red For Women,\u201d said\u00a0Donaruma Wade. \u201cWhen I retired, I knew I wanted to stay involved in my community. I took up\u00a0the Go Red For Women mission after hearing stories from several heart disease and stroke\u00a0survivors.
