Come visit Oneida Community Mansion House on Sunday, June <\/span><\/span>12, for our annual Strawberry Jam festival and fundraiser, hosted by Friends of the Mansion House.<\/div>\n

Activities begin at 9:00 <\/span><\/span>am with a flea market in the Vineyard across from the Mansion House. (Spaces to sell goods are available for $10.) From Noon until 4:00<\/span><\/span>pm, enjoy grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and salt potatoes in the Mansion House Quadrangle, and live entertainment throughout the afternoon on the South Lawn.Make sure you indulge in the delicious strawberry shortcake – prepared according to the traditional Oneida Community recipe – and cool beverages throughout the afternoon.<\/div>\n

A National Historic Landmark, the Oneida Community Mansion House\u00a0is a complex of four substantial Italianate and Second Empire-styled buildings, sited on 33 acres of landscaped grounds, and was the\u00a0residence of the 19th\u00a0century utopian Oneida Community (1848 – 1880). OCMH is an educational not-profit [501(c)3] organization chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of New York State.<\/div>\n
Admission to Mansion House presentations and exhibits are only $2.00 from Noon until 4\u00a0<\/span><\/span>pm.<\/div>\n

Museum guides will be on hand to show you around and answer questions. Attend an illustrated introduction by Curator Tony Wonderley in the Big Hall at 1:00 pm and 2:30 <\/span><\/span>pm. Exhibits on display include “Mothers and Children of the Oneida Community,” “Oneida Silverware Ads by Coles Phillips, 1911-1924”, “The Braidings of Jessie Catherine Kinsley,” and “Oneida Game Traps”, as well as period rooms, the Big Hall, Upper Sitting Room, and Nursery Kitchen.<\/div>\n

The Mansion House is open to the public every day except major holidays, presenting guided tours, programs and exhibits about the lifeways and material culture of the Oneida Community and its successors, including the silverware manufacturer Oneida Ltd. The Mansion House also provides overnight lodging in period-styled rooms as well as residential apartments.<\/div>\n
