Watertown native, textile and clothing designer Gretchen Scott, recently donated\u00a0over a thousand items of clothing from her collection to the Children\u2019s Home of Jefferson\u00a0County. The unique, brightly colored pieces were distributed to CHJC\u2019s clientele including\u00a0children and adults, in the agency\u2019s more than 20 programs focused on strengthening families,\u00a0providing safe havens for at-risk children, and mental and behavioral health.<\/p>\n

Gretchen is following the philanthropic example set by her parents, late Watertown\u00a0Pediatrician, Dr. George and Mrs. Helen Sturtz. The couple was involved extensively with the\u00a0support of several local area nonprofits and charitable initiatives.<\/p>\n

Gretchen\u2019s mantra is \u201cLaugh More; Gripe Less; Ignore Critics; Say Yes; Order Dessert; Love Life.\u201d She has traveled the world \u201clooking and hoping always to see \u2013 really see.\u201dShe is convinced<\/p>\n

She is convinced\u00a0that is what makes for great design, \u201cknowledge of what exists, along with a wide open view of\u00a0it \u2013 coupled with the ability to interpret it cleverly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gretchen sells to more than 1,000 retail outlets and has five of her own signature stores located\u00a0in Naples and Jupiter, Florida; Edgartown and Nantucket, Massachusetts; and Southampton –\u00a0Long Island.<\/p>\n
