\"climate-change\"<\/a>Local citizens will be participating in a rally on Wednesday, June 1<\/span> at the New York State Capitol in Albany to call for legislators to pass legislation that addresses the need to shift our energy needs to renewable sources, while creating jobs across the state.<\/p>\n

A bus will be leaving from the North Utica Shopping Center, 50 Auert Ave, Utica,\u00a0(near Berkshire Bank) at8:30 a.m.<\/span> on Wednesday, June 1.\u00a0 The bus will also stop in Syracuse.\u00a0 There is no charge for the bus, but donations will be accepted.\u00a0 To reserve a seat on the bus from Utica\/Syracuse, contact John Furman of the Central New York Citizens in Action, Inc. at 315-725-0974<\/a>\/cnycitizenaction@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The march is sponsored by NY Renews, a broad coalition of community-based organizations,\u00a0environmental justice groups, labor unions, faith groups, business leaders, and other advocates. NY Renews’ goal is to minimize the way all New Yorkers feel the effects of climate change through a comprehensive\u00a0statewide switch to 100% clean renewable energy by 2050. NY Renews has outlined an equitable transition that keeps people employed and that opens up the green jobs market for more New Yorkers.<\/p>\n

Members include the Central New York Citizens in Action, Inc., New York Working Families Party, Alliance for a Green Economy, \u00a0Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coalition, Buffalo Coalition for Economic Justice, \u00a0Catskill Mountainkeeper\u00a0 Citizen Action of NewYork, Communications Workers of America, \u00a0Environmental Advocates of NY,\u00a0NY State Nurses Association, NY State United Teachers, \u00a0People’s Climate\u00a0Movement NY, People of Albany United for Safe Energy \u2013 PAUSE, PUSH Buffalo, Rochester People’s Climate Coalition, \u00a0Sierra Club, Syracuse United Neighbors, and \u00a0Sustainable Tompkins.<\/p>\n
