Baltimore Woods Nature Center announces programs for families and\u00a0children scheduled for June and July 2016 with details listed below. All programs are $6 for members and $9 for non-members.\u00a0Register online at baltimorewoods.org. Baltimore Woods Nature Center is located at 4007 Bishop Hill Road, Marcellus.<\/p>\n

June 10 Star Party: Welcome Summer Skies 9-11pm<\/p>\n

The start of summer skies, with the planet Jupiter in good view, and Mars about as close to earth as it\u00a0will get for the year. Back-up date June 11. Recommended for all ages.<\/p>\n

June 18 Black Light Hike 8:30-9:30pm<\/p>\n

Humans can only see a limited range of light, but to animals that can see ultra-violet light, the world is\u00a0full of marvelous colors. Join us for a night hike through the forest as we take a UV flashlight in search of\u00a0glowing insects, algae, flowers, and fungi to discover this colorful luminescent world. Ages 5 and up.<\/p>\n

June 25 and July 16th Frog Catching Party 10:30-noon<\/p>\n

Frogs! Where? Down at Phillips Pond of course! Join our Naturalists for a celebration of all things frogs\u00a0as we engage in this classic childhood activity. Space is limited to 30 people, registration is required.\u00a0Ages 3 and up.<\/p>\n

July 22 Star Party: Beautiful Summer Skies 9-11pm<\/p>\n

Summer skies will be at their finest, with the many rich star clusters and nebulae visible in the direction\u00a0of the heart of our Milky Way galaxy. Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars will be visible. Back-up date July\u00a023. Recommended for all ages.<\/p>\n

July 23 Butterfly Chase 11am-noon<\/p>\n

Get up close with the beauty of butterflies. We\u2019ll learn about the majestic Monarch, her incredible\u00a0journey from here to Mexico, and how we can help her along her way. Then, we\u2019ll grab nets and run\u00a0through the fields to see how many different butterflies we can catch. You can even feel their legs tickle\u00a0your nose before watching them flutter away. All ages.<\/p>\n

July 30 Barefoot Hike 1-3pm<\/p>\n

You probably enjoyed going barefoot as a kid, right? So why did you stop? Scientific and medical\u00a0research has shown the many health benefits associated with not wearing shoes! Come and enjoy a\u00a0barefoot hike down the Valley Trail and along Baltimore Brook, over grass, dirt, mud, and soft wood chips. Leave the shoes at HOME for this one!
