On April 26, State Police in Pulaski responded to a larceny complaint on Minckler Road in the Town of Mexico.\u00a0 The victim reported several items stolen from her residence.\u00a0 Troopers and Investigators with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation began their investigation into the suspect, 24-year-old Thomas J. Cocopoti III from 65 West 4th Street, Fulton, NY for larceny and for violating an order of protection the victim had against Cocopoti.<\/p>\n

While investigators followed up on leads in the Mexico case, State Police in Lysander responded to a larceny in progress at Runnings on State Route 31 in the Town of Clay on June 5, 2016 at 5:46 p.m.\u00a0 Investigation at the scene revealed two men had entered the store and concealed packages of batteries in their clothing, then left the store without paying for the merchandise.\u00a0 A cashier and a customer in the store attempted to apprehend one of the men, and the customer was subsequently dragged a short distance by the suspect vehicle as they fled the scene.\u00a0 The customer was not injured.<\/p>\n

While Lysander Troopers attempted to identify the two suspects, State Police in Fulton responded to a larceny complaint at Ace Hardware on State Route 3 in the Town of Volney on June 6, 2016.\u00a0 Store employees reported that on June 3, 2016, two males had entered the store, selected boxes of sink faucets, and left the store without rendering payment for the merchandise.<\/p>\n

State Police from Lysander and Fulton identified the two suspects from the Volney and Clay larcenies as Thomas J. Cocopoti III, and 25-year-old Adam M. Hamilton from 13 Lawrence Street, Oswego, NY.<\/p>\n

On June 12, 2016, State Police in Fulton located and arrested Hamilton.\u00a0 He was charged with Petit Larceny, a class \u201cA\u201d misdemeanor and Falsifying Business Records 1st degree, a class \u201cE\u201d felony.\u00a0 He was arraigned in the Town of Palermo Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.<\/p>\n

On June 22, 2016 State Police in Lysander arrested Hamilton and charged him with Petit Larceny and Conspiracy 6th degree, a class \u201cB\u201d misdemeanor.\u00a0 He was arraigned in the Town of Clay Court and is scheduled to return on July 5, 2016.<\/p>\n

State Police continued their search for Cocopoti, and on June 20, 2016, State Police in Pulaski received another complaint in which he was the suspect, in the Village of Mexico.\u00a0 The victim reported she had allowed Cocopoti to take her vehicle for repairs.\u00a0 Cocopoti did not return the vehicle after several days and the victim was unable to contact or locate him.<\/p>\n

On June 29, 2016, State Police in Fulton located Cocopoti in the City of Fulton.\u00a0 He was taken into custody and charged with Petit Larceny, a class \u201cA\u201d misdemeanor, for the Ace Hardware theft.\u00a0 State Police in Pulaski then charged him with Petit Larceny and Criminal Contempt 2nddegree, both class \u201cA\u201d misdemeanors for the Town of Mexico theft.\u00a0 He was also charged with Grand Larceny 4th degree, a class \u201cE\u201d felony, for the stolen vehicle.\u00a0 He was arraigned in the Town of Volney Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Jail pending a court appearance on July 5, 2016.<\/p>\n

On June 30, 2016 State Police in Lysander charged Cocopoti with Petit Larceny and Conspiracy 6th degree, both misdemeanors, for the theft at Runnings.\u00a0 He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Clay Court on July 12, 2016 regarding those charges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
