\"FPB<\/a>Fritz’s Polka Band (sponsored by Coldcock Whiskey)\u00a0from\u00a0Verona, will return\u00a0to Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pa., Sunday, Aug. 7. Fritz\u2019s Polka Band (FPB) will perform on the Festplatz Stage from noon to 3:30pm<\/span>. Musikfest is the largest free\u00a0festival in the United States, as over 900,000 people attend this annual festival.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guys in Fritz\u2019s Polka Band look forward to returning to Musikfest for the second year in a row,\u201d said Fritz Scherz, band\u00a0leader of\u00a0Fritz’s Polka Band.\u00a0 \u201cEach time we\u2019ve played this festival, we were in awe because of the huge crowds! A unique thing about\u00a0this festival is that there are so many different musical genres represented and the audience welcomes it. It\u2019s so thrilling to get booked\u00a0to play at the largest free festival in the United States! I\u2019m glad the promoters like my band\u2019s eclectic musical style and I want to thank\u00a0them once again for having my band return.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fritz’s Polka Band has been performing for over 37 years, and made history in 1999 by becoming the first polka band to play\u00a0at a Woodstock Festival in Rome. FPB has made 18 recordings and appears\u00a0on “The Manchurian Candidate” DVD, released in\u00a0FPB won a Just Plain Folks Music Award in the Best Polka Song category for Bialczak\u2019s Polka in 2008.\u00a0 FPB won an Upper State Independent (USI) Award in Syracuse in 2008 and 2009.\u00a0 In 2009, FPB won a Syracuse Area Music Award in the Best Recording:<\/p>\n

Other Styles category for their \u201cReflections\u201d recording.\u00a0 In 2010, FPB was inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame.\u00a0 In 2011,\u00a0FPB had two songs (\u2018Grandparent\u2019s Polka\u2019 and \u2018Here Is Fritz\u2019s Polka Band\u2019) included in two episodes of the TV show, \u2018Breaking Bad\u2019.<\/p>\n

FPB was nominated in 2012 for two USI Awards. In 2013, FPB released their 18th recording, a double live CD entitled, \u201cThe WSKG Sessions\u201d. In late summer of 2014, all FPB members were nominated for national awards by the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame!<\/p>\n
