A closing reception will be held <span data-term=\"goog_567250000\">Friday, Sept. 23,<\/span> from <span data-term=\"goog_567250001\">5 to 7 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This exhibit will introduce viewers to the art and history of icon painting, the symbolism of icons and their role in Orthodox worship, and various other styles and methods of producing icons. Examples include: painted with egg<!--more--> tempura, cast in metal, carved from wood and mother-of-pearl, painted on enamel, engraved on silver, embroidered and printed. Additionally, each icon is supplemented with religious objects (vestments, chalices, liturgical gospels and blessing crosses).<\/p>\n<p>The Cogar Gallery, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center, is open to the public free of charge, <span data-term=\"goog_567250002\">8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.<\/span> <span data-term=\"goog_567250003\">Monday<\/span> through Friday during the summer when the College is open.
