This year\u2019s town of Nelson Skunk Hollow Day will begin at <span tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1058778875\">1:00pm<\/span> this Saturday, Aug. 6, at the town office.<\/p>\n<p>The town baseball game \u2014 Nelson versus Fenner \u2014 is scheduled for <span tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1058778877\">1:00pm<\/span>on the ball field behind the town office. There will also be games, free ice cream, classic cars, town history, and information and displays by local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>A free concert is scheduled for <span tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1058778878\">4:00pm<\/span> at The Nelson Odeon. The past two year&#8217;s<!--more--> concerts have been so much fun that Laine Gilmore has put together a group of local musicians from the Nelson area again this year. The Skunk Hollow Band features Tim Murray, Laine Gilmore, Sondra Whalen, Wayne McFarland, Pat Avery, and John (Johnny Wiz) Wisniewski.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is welcome, so come out and join the fun!<\/p>\n<p>History Lesson: Legend has it that Skunk Hollow was the original name of the hamlet of Nelson. Apparently this was where the first skunk was discovered west of the Hudson River.
