Morrisville State College will welcome a new class of freshmen, transfer and returning students during Welcome Weekend Aug. 25-28<\/span>.\u00a0 Classes begin Aug. 29<\/span> at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s enrollment class is global including students from Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Canada, China, Kazakhstan and Germany. More than 1,200 incoming students (freshmen and transfer) are expected to be welcomed throughout the weekend, with an additional 45 from ONCAMPUS SUNY. ONCAMPUS SUNY students hail from Vietnam, Korea, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, India, Malaysia and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

Student athletes will be among those assisting with moving new students into their residence halls. First-year and transfer students will arrive on Aug. 25<\/span> (between 8 a.m.-2 p.m.) followed by returning and readmitted students on Aug. 28<\/span>.\u00a0 South Street will be closed to southbound traffic, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.<\/span> on Aug. 25<\/span>, for freshman move-in day.<\/p>\n

Welcome Weekend is an opportunity for students to become familiar, or reacquaint themselves, with the Morrisville campus and all it has to offer. Activities include check-in for new students, informational sessions, classroom tours, laptop orientations and AT&T cellular phone distribution.<\/p>\n

All new students\u2014first-year, transfer, readmitted students, campus resident and commuters, will be greeted by the entire faculty and administration, including the president and deans, during an Academic Welcome Ceremony which will be held on Aug. 26 at 10 a.m.<\/span> in Hamilton Hall<\/a>. This short ceremony officially kicks off the school year.<\/p>\n

Norwich campus<\/p>\n

Norwich will welcome more than 100 new students for the fall semester.\u00a0In addition, the EDge program begins its inaugural year with 21 high school students, from school districts in Chenango County, attending classes on the Norwich Campus. The EDge program allows Chenango County High School students to take courses at the Norwich Campus during their school day.<\/p>\n

During the first year, students have the opportunity to receive up to 14 college credits, which students may use upon enrolling at Morrisville\/Norwich or transferring to another institution.\u00a0 The campus will also host student success workshops and a barbecue on Aug. 26<\/span>, in addition to a speaker\u2019s series every Friday<\/span> featuring presentations by college, community and business leaders.<\/p>\n
