Join Friends of Rogers and the Chenango County Cornell Cooperative Extension from 1-3 pm on August\u00a027 and \u2018Learn to Kayak\u2019 at Rogers Center. Participants will be taught the basics of river and flat water\u00a0kayaking, a fun way to see wildlife and to get great exercise.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited to partner with Cooperative Extension in offering this new program,\u201d said Simon\u00a0Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive director. \u201cKayaking allows boaters the chance to see familiar\u00a0landscapes from new perspectives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paddling techniques, proper equipment, and how to plan a trip will all be covered. Participants may\u00a0use a Rogers Center kayak or bring their own.<\/p>\n

Boaters must be at least 13 years of age, and if under age 18, must be accompanied by an adult. Space\u00a0is limited, so advance reservations are required by noon on August 26; registration is $12 per person.<\/p>\n

The meet-up location for the program is the main parking lot at Rogers Center on Route 80 in<\/p>\n

Sherburne.<\/p>\n

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers\u00a0Environmental\u00a0Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization\u00a0that offers educational programs for all ages.
