Classes begin Aug. 29.<\/p>\n<p>The Merit awards are $3,000 over four years. For non-New York state students, the total award can increase to as much as $39,000 in combination with a Destination Oswego scholarship.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bailey E. Forrett of Hardscrabble Road in Erieville, majoring in accounting, last attended Cazenovia Central High School<\/li>\n<li>Scott N. Bodnar of West Hill Road in Hamilton, majoring in electrical and computer engineering, last attended Hamilton Central School<\/li>\n<li>Robert L. Davies of Watervale Road in Manlius, majoring in global and international studies, last attended Fabius-Pompey High School<\/li>\n<li>Anthony P. Notaro of Woodbox Road in Manlius, majoring in accounting, last attended Fayetteville-Manlius High School<\/li>\n<li>Matthew J. Fernandez of Alhan Parkway in Syracuse, majoring in software engineering, last attended Solvay High School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SUNY Oswego honored more than 850 incoming freshmen with merit scholarships. Outstanding first-year students are offered $18,800 Presidential Scholarships ($4,700 a year for up to four years), $6,000 Deans&#8217; Scholarships ($1,500 a year for up to four years), $3,000 Merit Scholarships ($750 a year for up to four years) and, for outstanding students from outside New York state, Destination Oswego scholarships of $5,000 to $9,000 a year.<\/p>\n<p>The awards are part of about $5 million in merit scholarship money offered at SUNY Oswego.
