ONE\u00a0WAY RED is an interdisciplinary work of science fiction performed in the Atrium of\u00a0the Ho Science Center. The show will be performed on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>The Mediums\u2019 ONE WAY RED is a meditation on why we look to other planets to\u00a0solve our earthbound <!--more-->problems. Based on accounts of applicants to join Mars One, a\u00a0real-life non-profit dedicated to establishing the first human colony (and reality TV\u00a0show) on Mars, ONE WAY RED is a solo journey from a bedroom floor in Waltham,\u00a0Mass., to the surface of the Red Planet. ONE WAY RED follows the story of a young\u00a0woman, played by Dani Solomon \u201813, willing to put faith in a mission with an\u00a0improbable chance for success. Our anti-heroine, awash in a vast desert of empty\u00a0NetFlix sleeves, broadcasts her reality TV confessionals back to Earth in\u00a0monologues, folk songs, and movement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMars holds a lot of space in today\u2019s collective conversation, from NASA\u2019s plans to\u00a0visit Mars in the 2030s and Mars One looking to colonize the planet before\u00a0them,\u201dsays Dani Solomon, lead artist and performer. \u201cAre we taking another giant\u00a0leap for mankind? Are we running away from Earth? Or is it both?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ONE WAY RED is co-created and directed by Mason Rosenthal, with Morgan\u00a0Fitzpatrick Andrews as lead designer. Together, Solomon, Rosenthal, and Andrews\u00a0make up the Medium Theatre Company.<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT THE MEDIUM THEATRE COMPANY<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2012, the Medium Theatre Company creates interdisciplinary\u00a0experiences in unusual spaces. We imbue audiences with plays they can see, hear,\u00a0touch, taste, and fully feel, and make stuff for folks who might not usually go \u201cto the\u00a0theater.\u201d As such, we bring theatre to the people via affordable ticket prices,\u00a0community engagement, and stories that serve up subtle social commentary in the\u00a0way a chef serves a 10-course meal.
