\"entry_way_-clock-199170906_large\"<\/a>The All Things Oz Museum will open its doors free of charge on Saturday,\u00a0Sept. 24, 2016, as a part of Smithsonian Magazine\u2019s 12th annual Museum Day Live. On this\u00a0day only, participating museums across the United States emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian\u00a0institution\u2019s Washington DC based facilities which offer free admission every day and open their\u00a0doors free to those who download a Museum Day Live ticket.<\/p>\n

Inclusive by design, the event represents Smithsonian\u2019s commitment to make learning and the\u00a0spread of knowledge accessible to everyone. Last year\u2019s event drew over 200.000 participants, and\u00a0this year\u2019s event is expected to attract more museum goers than ever before.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunity to bring people in and show them some of the history of Central New York is\u00a0important to us, and participating with the Smithsonian on this event helps us reach a new audience\u00a0that might have otherwise passed us by\u201d, said foundation President Dennis Kulis. \u201cThe legacy of the\u00a0American fairy tale \u201cThe Wonderful Wizard of Oz\u201d started right here in the village of Chittenango,\u00a0and the impact the story has had on Americana is undeniable, and now people from all over the\u00a0area have a chance to come and see a wonderful exhibit based on one of our most famous native\u00a0sons for free.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Museum is operated by the International L. Frank Baum & All Things Oz Historical Foundation.<\/p>\n

They are a 501(c)3 non-profit and they operate the annual Oz-Stravaganza festival and are\u00a0renovating the Baum-Neal house in Syracuse as well.<\/p>\n

The Museum Day Live ticket is available for download at Smithsonian.com\/museumday. Visitors\u00a0who present the museum day live ticket will gain free entrance for two at participating venues on\u00a0Sept. 24. One ticket per household is permitted; however, the All Things Oz museum will\u00a0admit any number of people free that day.<\/p>\n
