Each year we gather to exchange intelligence, take a closer look at past events, and talk about possible future threats to further protect the communities we serve,\u201d said New York State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II. \u201cThe New York State Police remains committed to holding events and forums like the Intelligence Summit, and remain vigilant in fighting the threats to people in our great state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the complex threat environment in New York, including recent threats involving the use of improvised explosive devices, it is more important than ever to bring local, state and federal partners together to share information so that collectively we can protect New Yorkers.\u201d said John P. Melville, Commissioner of the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. \u201cDHSES is proud to support the New York State Police in their efforts to bring our partners together for this important information sharing event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe successful collaboration of law enforcement depends on forums like this one,\u201d said Andrew W. Vale, Special Agent in Charge, FBI\u2014Albany Division. \u201cThe opportunity to meet with our federal, state and local partners to discuss the work we have done, the obstacles we have overcome and the challenges we have yet to face is invaluable when trying to meet ever-changing threats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New York State Intelligence Summit was held on Tuesday, September 27 and Wednesday, September 28, 2016. This year\u2019s opening remarks were provided by Superintendent Beach, New York State Deputy Secretary for Public Safety, Rachel Small, Commissioner Melville, and Mr. Steven Lanser, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, FBI Buffalo.
