{"id":73986,"date":"2016-10-11T22:20:13","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T02:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=73986"},"modified":"2016-10-11T21:23:12","modified_gmt":"2016-10-12T01:23:12","slug":"police-investigating-an-apparent-drowning-in-skaneateles-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=73986","title":{"rendered":"Police Investigating an apparent drowning in Skaneateles Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?attachment_id=61900\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-61900\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-61900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/state-police-seal-150x150.jpg?resize=226%2C226\" alt=\"state-police-seal-150x150\" width=\"226\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/state-police-seal-150x150.jpg?w=226&amp;ssl=1 226w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/state-police-seal-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/a>State Police are investigating an apparent drowning that occurred Monday, October 10, 2016 on Skaneateles in the Town of Spafford.<br \/>\nOn Monday, October 10, 2016, at approximately 4:30pm, Troopers responded to a reported drowning at 865 Ten Mile Point in the town of Spafford after a caller stated his friend was scuba diving from a pontoon boat that was anchored near shore and that he did not re-surface.<\/p>\n<p>Onondaga County Sheriff Deputies along with AIR 1 helicopter, and members from the Spafford, Bordino and Skaneateles Fire Departments responded to the scene and assisted in the search for the victim.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, identified as Ulises Garcia, age 50, of Syracuse, was located this afternoon by members of the State Police SCUBA unit in the area where the pontoon boat was anchored, approximately 120 feet from the surface.\u00a0 State Police used a side scanning sonar to help locate the victim\u2019s body.<\/p>\n<p>An autopsy is scheduled tomorrow to determine the official cause of death.\u00a0 The investigation is continuing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State Police are investigating an apparent drowning that occurred Monday, October 10, 2016 on Skaneateles in the Town of Spafford.
