The purpose of the meeting is to adopt legislative policy resolutions, listen to county\u00a0committee activity reports and elect members to the County\u2019s Board of Directors for the 2016-2017 year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a great year promoting agriculture, raising awareness and providing programming to\u00a0benefit our members,\u201d said County Farm Bureau President Darrell Griff. \u201cI am proud to serve\u00a0with such a dedicated group of volunteers to help Madison County farm families excel. The\u00a0annual meeting allows us to come together and reflect on the many accomplishments and\u00a0contributions to our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A portion of the night was dedicated to voting on legislative policy resolutions that will be sent\u00a0on for <!--more-->consideration at New York Farm Bureau\u2019s State Annual Meeting in December. Here,\u00a0representatives from all the County Farm Bureaus will come together to set the public policy\u00a0agenda for 2017 based on positions that are locally derived. \u201cIt is grassroots advocacy at its\u00a0finest,\u201d said Griff. \u201cWe, the farmer members, are on the front lines every day, we face\u00a0challenges, burdensome regulations that impact our industry and to have a voice in developing\u00a0an agenda to benefit every farmer in New York is worth the value of membership in Farm\u00a0Bureau.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Members also took a look back at the programming over the last year that ranged from\u00a0government relations, engaging young farmers, workshops to bolster the equine community,\u00a0educational initiatives and finding creative ways to give back. Looking ahead, the Board of\u00a0Directors encouraged members to participate in the 3 rd Annual Bartender Takeover Night at\u00a0Owera Vineyards on November 4. It is expected to be another evening of fun, food, wine, beer\u00a0and spirits and live entertainment all to benefit a worthy cause, the Food Bank of Central New\u00a0York.
