Notes from the October 2016 Hamilton Town Council Meeting<\/em><\/p>\n

The October Hamilton Town Council meeting took place in the Village Court House. We\u00a0expect to meet there until our building renovations are completed. The meeting opened\u00a0with a proposal for a village\/ town dog park. The project is still in the planning stage with\u00a0organizers working with the village to find an appropriate location. Bert Glazier has left the position of Highway Superintendent to accept a job with private\u00a0industry. We are pleased to announce that the town has hired Jason Florenz to\u00a0become the new highway superintendent, effective Nov. 7, 2016. Jason is very well-qualified for the position and has extensive highway experience\u2014six years with Brookfield and 12 years with the village of Hamilton.<\/p>\n

The Town has been working on a draft of the 2017 budget. Our 2017 budget and fire contracts public hearing takes place Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the\u00a0Poolville Community Center. This public is invited to attend.<\/p>\n

Thanks to all who participated in the Comprehensive Plan Public Meeting. The response to the plan was largely favorable, with some comments and questions\u00a0submitted at the meeting and afterward. With the comment period now closed, the plan\u00a0is being reviewed once again to consider input from the meeting. Once that is\u00a0completed the final draft will be made public on the website and in our local libraries.<\/p>\n

The Plan then goes to the County for review before the board considers it for adoption.<\/p>\n

Many Town residents have been experiencing problems with their Frontier\u00a0Communications phone and internet service, and broadband service in general. Let us\u00a0know if you have experienced issues in the past six months by contacting the Town\u00a0Office. The Town is working with Madison County to find solutions to these problems.<\/p>\n

A reminder\u2014the town is now working from 40 Milford St., while the renovations at 38\u00a0Milford St. continue. Building plans are in the works and construction should begin\u00a0this winter.<\/p>\n

The Hamilton Town Council meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Hamilton Village\u00a0Courthouse at 6:30 pm. Our next meeting is November 10.<\/p>\n
