\"SRAA\"<\/a>\"paws-of-cny6\"<\/a>Syracuse Hancock International Airport is excited to announce that we\u00a0have teamed with PAWS of CNY, Inc. to offer a Pet Therapy Program at the airport. The\u00a0program, which is called the SYR Pets Easing Travelers Program is designed to help ease\u00a0the stress of the traveling public and their loved ones. Hancock\u00a0launched the program Nov.\u00a022, 2016, just in time for the start of the busy holiday travel season.<\/p>\n

Airport Pet Therapy Programs were established at San Jose Airport shortly after Sept. 11, 2001; the\u00a0programs, which dispatch specially trained dogs and their owners to interact with passengers at\u00a0every stage of the pre-flight process was designed to help provide stress relief. \u201cWe want to thank PAWS of CNY, Inc. for working with us to develop a pet therapy program for the airport,\u201d\u00a0said Christina R. Callahan, executive director. \u201cWhat a great way to help ease any stress or\u00a0anxiety our passenger may be experiencing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The therapy dogs and their handlers\/owners will walk through the terminal, visiting with\u00a0passengers that are awaiting flights. Our initial team includes three dogs; Bert, Diva and Flyer.\u00a0All dogs are certified by PAWS of CNY, Inc., which ensures the dogs are tested for non-aggression, general obedience, temperament, and willingness to be hugged and petted in the\u00a0midst of noisy and distracting airports.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to partner with the Syracuse Hancock International Airport to bring our pet\u00a0therapy services to travelers,\u201d said Jessica Marabella, president of PAWS of CNY. \u201cThe goal of\u00a0our organization is to bring warmth, comfort, and companionship to our community, and we are\u00a0pleased to expand our services to include assistance to those feeling the stress of travel. It\u2019s a\u00a0perfect alignment and we look forward to a successful partnership with the Airport.\u201d<\/p>\n
