The American Heart Association\/American Stroke Association is now accepting applications for Community Impact Grants online. Community Impact Grants help local\u00a0organizations start or continue programs that have a positive impact on the heart health of the\u00a0Greater Utica area.<\/p>\n

The American Heart Association\/American Stroke Association has recognized the need to fund and to partner with community-based organizations that are working toward our mission of\u00a0building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.<\/p>\n

It is essential that we engage individuals and organizations to build a sustainable culture of\u00a0health in communities so that all Americans live healthfully in environments that support healthy\u00a0behaviors, timely and quality care, and well-being.<\/p>\n

Many local groups are working, or would like to work, on projects that would result in\u00a0improvements in the cardiovascular health of our children, families, and the community at\u00a0large.\u00a0This funding will help to ensure the activities continue and that new, creative projects and\u00a0partnerships are developed in the Greater Utica\u00a0area.<\/p>\n

Programs should fall under one of four cause areas of the American Heart\u00a0Association\/American Stroke Association: Go Red For Women, childhood obesity, Power To\u00a0End Stroke, or physical inactivity. Special consideration will also be given to programs aimed at\u00a0improving access to healthy foods, increasing CPR\/AED training and implementation in the\u00a0community, and multi-cultural initiatives involving bringing an existing American Heart\u00a0Association program to an underserved community.<\/p>\n

The American Heart Association in Utica will receive a higher total of $58,000 for the grant\u00a0program, which will provide funding for community-based organizations in the Greater Utica\u00a0area.<\/p>\n

Interested organizations need to complete the online application at\u00a0http:\/\/heartofuticagrants.heart.org. The website also provides information on grant eligibility,\u00a0programs of focus, criteria, and a pre-application worksheet. The deadline to submit applications\u00a0is Jan. 31, 2017.<\/p>\n
