Beginning in February, daytime,\u00a0evening and weekend appointments are available Mondays through Saturdays through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance at the Madison County Department of Social\u00a0Services and several other locations throughout Madison County.<\/p>\n<p>Residents who earned\u00a0less than $54,000 in 2016 can work with trained community volunteers to help file\u00a0income taxes as well as assist with special credits, such as <!--more-->Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly for which you may qualify. Easy\u00a0electronic filing puts your refund in your hands in two weeks!<\/p>\n<p>Before calling for an appointment, please be sure you have all of your tax documents and\u00a0information available for review. Important documents include the following (a full list\u00a0may be found at https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/vita):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Photo proof of identification<\/li>\n<li>Social Security cards<\/li>\n<li>Wage and earning statement(s)<\/li>\n<li>Forms W-2, W-2G, and 1099-R,\u00a0from all employers<\/li>\n<li>Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)<\/li>\n<li>Copies of prior year federal and state\u00a0returns, if available<\/li>\n<li>Form 1099-G, if applicable<\/li>\n<li>Form 1095-A\/1095- B\/1095-C\u00a0(Health Insurance Marketplace\u00a0Statement), if applicable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both spouses must be present to sign joint returns.<\/p>\n<p>In Madison County, appointments will be available at Department of Social Services in\u00a0Wampsville and at outreach sites.
