\"\"<\/a>Fritz’s Polka Band (sponsored by Coldcock Whiskey)<\/em> from Verona, NY will return to the Utica Maennerchor (5535 Flanagan\u00a0Road) in Marcy Saturday, Feb. 18,<\/span> from 7pm to 10pm<\/span>.\u00a0 This will be part of the annual “Fasching Night” celebration,\u00a0which has a Mardi Gras theme and is open to both adults and children. An optional dinner starts at 6pm<\/span>.<\/p>\n

“My band\u2019s played at this annual event for many years, and it’s always enjoyable seeing people of all ages dress up in their\u00a0Mardi Gras costumes, compete for some costume prizes, and dance in a variety of ways to our tunes,\u201d said Fritz Scherz,\u00a0bandleader of\u00a0FPB. “The guys in FPB hope to see a whole bunch of people taking part in this year\u2019s Fasching Night, as we know it\u2019ll be festive!”<\/p>\n

Fritz’s Polka Band has been performing for 38 years, and made history in 1999 by becoming the first polka band to play at a Woodstock Festival in Rome. FPB has made 18 recordings and appears\u00a0on “The Manchurian Candidate”<\/em> DVD, released in 2004.<\/p>\n

FPB won a Just Plain Folks Music Award in the Best Polka Song category for Bialczak\u2019s Polka<\/em> in 2008.\u00a0 FPB won an Upper State\u00a0Independent (USI) Award in Syracuse in 2008 and 2009.\u00a0 In 2009, FPB won a Syracuse Area Music Award in the Best Recording: Other Styles category for their \u201cReflections\u201d<\/em> recording.\u00a0 In 2010, FPB was inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame. In 2011,\u00a0FPB had two songs (Grandparent\u2019s Polka<\/em> and Here Is Fritz\u2019s Polka Band<\/em>) included in two episodes of the TV show, \u2018Breaking Bad\u2019. FPB was nominated in 2012 for two USI Awards. In 2013, FPB released their 18th<\/sup> recording, a double live CD entitled, \u201cThe WSKG\u00a0<\/em>Sessions\u201d. <\/em>In late summer of 2014, all FPB members were nominated for national awards by the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame!<\/p>\n

In late summer of 2015, surviving founding FPB members, Fritz Scherz and Gabe Vaccaro were nominated for national awards by the\u00a0Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame! In 2016, Fritz Scherz was nominated for a national award by the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n
