Colgate men’s track and field senior Daniel Mosko<\/span> (Los Gatos, Calif.) set a school record in the hammer throw Saturday<\/span><\/span> afternoon at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon<\/span> University.<\/p>\n

Just one week after throwing the second longest hammer throw in school history, Mosko<\/span> broke the 48-year-old record held by Gary Bartell<\/span> ’70 (53.38 meters) with a throw of 54.86 meters.<\/p>\n

Mosko<\/span> is one of two Raiders to pick up a first-place finish Saturday<\/span><\/span> afternoon as the Raiders’ throwers had one of their best meets of the season. Nicholas Hamilton (West Caldwell, N.J.) earned Colgate’s other first-place finish with his top mark in the javelin with a throw of 44.33 meters, his best throw this season.<\/p>\n

Patrick Needham (Vermilion, Ohio) set a pair of personal records as he recorded three top-10 finishes. Needham set personal records with a shot put of 12.26 meters and hammer throw of 38.79 meters, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively. Needham also finished ninth in the discus throw with 35.17 meters.<\/p>\n

Jack MacPhail<\/span> (Rye) also had one of the best meets of his freshman season, setting a pair of personal records with a discus of 37.32 meters and hammer throw of 41.09 meters to finish sixth and seventh in the events, respectively.<\/p>\n

Colin Loughlin<\/span> (Hingham<\/span>, Mass.) also set a personal record as he finished third in the 800 Meter Run, finishing in 1:54.96.<\/p>\n

Two other Raiders set outdoor personal records in events, highlighted by freshman Luke Myers’ (Mohnton<\/span>, Pennsylvania) with his time of 1:59.69 in the 800 Meter Run. Senior Austin Perez (Manlius<\/span>, New York) also set an outdoor personal record, running the 400 Meter Race in 52.12 seconds to finish sixth overall but first in his section.<\/p>\n

Oliver Moe (Bronx) finished third in the 400 Meter Run with a time of 49.99 seconds while Anthony Castillo (Los Angeles, Calif.) also finished in the top five, coming in fourth place with a time of 50.77 seconds to tie his season-best time.<\/p>\n

The Raiders rounded out an impressive meet with a second-place finish of the 4×400 Meter Relay race with a time of 3:27.58 seconds for their best time of the 2017 season.<\/p><\/div>\n
