This hotline will be a critical resource for New York State farmers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hotline would offer information for farmers and anyone interested in entering the agricultural industry on topics including<!--more--> farm management, finances, grant opportunities, research and marketing. Cornell Cooperative Extension uses research and education to provide resources and programs to communities, and they\u2019re uniquely equipped to administer the hotline, noted Magee.<\/p>\n<p>New York state currently has 36,000 farms that supply a variety of products for the food and beverage industry; however, many of the state\u2019s farmers are aging. Nearly 30 percent of the state\u2019s principal farm operators are 65 or older, with an average age of 57 years old.
