Photo courtesy Friends of Rogers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Help restore one of the many hiking paths at Rogers Center by volunteering on \u201cNational Trails Day.\u201d The Excelsior Conservation Corps will lead an initiative to improve the trails which endured significant damage during an unseasonably wet spring.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning at 10 a.m. on June 3, community volunteers are invited to join the Excelsior Conservation Corps with trail maintenance tasks, such as adding mulch and stone, trimming stray branches, and building up areas that have recently become extremely water-logged.<\/p>\n<p>The Excelsior Conservation Corps, an extension of the New York State AmeriCorps program, is a\u00a0modern day version of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Members of<!--more--> the ECC work to complete environmental stewardship projects on public lands for the protection of natural and recreational\u00a0resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely grateful for this collaboration with the Excelsior Conservation Corps,\u201d said Simon Solomon, executive director. \u201cThis continued partnership echoes our history, as the Adams Farm and Cush Hill parcels hosted the CCC from 1933-1942, during which time the now-familiar Rogers Center landscape was constructed. Having the ECC assist with trail maintenance is an inspiring reflection of that legacy!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To pre-register as a \u201cNational Trails Day\u201d volunteer, call (607) 674-4733 or email execdir@FriendsofRogers.org.
