UPDATED INFORMATION:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

On July 17, 2017, State Police in Watertown arrested\u00a0Taylor I. Beckstead, age 20, formerly of 1620 Huntington St, apt K8, Watertown, NY, and\u00a0Devin Hunter Davis, age 22, of 238 Lakeview Drive, Colonial Beach, Virginia. Both were charged with Murder in the 2nd\u00a0Degree. This arrest stems from the shooting death of Tyler Johnson that occurred on May 18, 2017, in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County.<\/p>\n

Since the onset of this investigation, State Police have been supported by law enforcement agencies in the Colonial Beach, Virginia area, to include the Westmoreland County Sheriff\u2019s Department, the King George County Sheriff\u2019s Department, and the Virginia State Police. The cumulative effort and support of these agencies resulted in today\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

After Beckstead and Davis were located, arrest warrants from Justice Anthony J. Casselman, Town of Pamelia Court, Jefferson County, were filed with the Westmoreland County Sheriff\u2019s Department, where both Beckstead and Davis are being held as fugitives from justice, pending their respective extradition proceedings. Beckstead and Davis will be returned to Jefferson County to be arraigned on these charges at a later date.<\/p>\n

Jamaal Carr<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On July 6, 2017, State Police in Watertown announce the arrest of\u00a0Jamaal K. Carr, age 26, of 532 Franklin Street, apartment B, Watertown, NY, for Murder in the 2nd\u00a0Degree.<\/p>\n

This arrest stems from the shooting death of Tyler Johnson that occurred on May 18, 2017, in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County, New York.<\/p>\n

Carr was arrested in the City of Syracuse and was arraigned in the Town of Pamelia Court where he was remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building without bail.<\/p>\n

This remains an active investigation. Any person that desires to provide additional information is asked to contact the New York State Police at\u00a0315-366-6000,\u00a0and make reference to the Tyler Johnson Homicide Detail.<\/p>\n

State Police are interested in speaking to any person that was in the area of State Route 37 and County Route 16, in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County that may have been approached by any person seeking a ride, between the hours of 12:15 a.m. and 3 a.m. This vehicle and driver we are interested in speaking to was last seen east on County Route 16, toward the Village of Evans Mills.<\/p>\n

State Police in Watertown are investigating a shooting that occurred shortly after 1 am this morning at a residence in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County.<\/p>\n

Troopers responded to 28764 State Route 37 for a reported person shot inside the residence.\u00a0Tyler J. Johnson<\/strong>, age 20, who resided at that residence, was found in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound. He was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where he succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n

State Police believe the suspect(s) knew Johnson and that he was the intended target of the shooting.<\/p>\n

If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they are asked to contact State Police at\u00a0(315) 366-6000<\/a>.\u00a0 Any information can be kept confidential.<\/strong><\/p>\n
