{"id":84253,"date":"2017-09-02T11:29:16","date_gmt":"2017-09-02T15:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=84253"},"modified":"2017-09-01T23:51:15","modified_gmt":"2017-09-02T03:51:15","slug":"jeffrey-mayer-to-give-free-fashion-presentation-in-cazenovia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=84253","title":{"rendered":"Jeffrey Mayer to give free fashion presentation in Cazenovia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?attachment_id=84254\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-84254\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-84254\" src=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/image001-286x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"286\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/image001-286x300.png 286w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/image001-143x150.png 143w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/image001.png 298w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 286px) 100vw, 286px\" \/><\/a>On\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_82538259\">Monday, Sept. 11, at 12:30 pm<\/span>\u00a0in the Community Room at the Cazenovia Public Library, \u201cFashion at Lorenzo: 1906\u201d\u00a0will be offered by\u00a0Jeffrey Mayer, associate professor of fashion, fashion history and textiles at Syracuse University\u2019s College of Visual and Performing Arts.<\/p>\n<p>In 1906 following a comprehensive redecorating of Lorenzo, the lady of the house, Helen Lincklaen Fairchild had the formal spaces of the Mansion photographed.\u00a0 Mr. Mayer will present summer fashions of 1906 which Lorenzo\u2019s residents might have worn at the time these photos were taken.<\/p>\n<p>Along with publishing his book\u00a0Vintage Details: A Fashion Sourcebook\u00a0in 2016,\u00a0Jeffrey Mayer is also curator of the Sue Ann Genet Costume Collection and Research Center.\u00a0 He has curated numerous fashion exhibits including several in Syracuse at the Everson Museum of Art and Onondaga Historical Association.<\/p>\n<p>Lorenzo was established in 1807 as the home of John Lincklaen, founder of the Village of Cazenovia and Holland Land Company agent.\u00a0 The home was continually occupied by the family until the property, including buildings and contents, was conveyed to New York State in 1968.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Mansion appears much as it did during Helen Lincklaen Fairchild\u2019s ownership, 1894-1931, with the interior finished and furnished to this period. A combination of historic factors made this remarkable task possible including the preservation of extensive family records, a relatively intact collection spanning 160 years and the foresight of the Lincklaen\/Ledyard family members.<\/p>\n<p>This free presentation is made possible by support from the Friends of Lorenzo.\u00a0 It will be held at the Cazenovia Public Library, 100 Albany Street.
