On Sunday November 5th<\/sup>\u00a0at 2:00 pm the Oneida Community Mansion House will host a readers theatre production of \u201cOff Base:\u00a0 The Great Peterboro Baseball Story,\u201d by the Oneida Public Library Players.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 The play, written by Tom Murray, is a comedy about the first recorded history of women playing baseball, which occurred in Peterboro in August of 1868.\u00a0 The play will feature prominent historical figures but take some historical liberties incorporating suffragists, abolitionists and residents of Peterboro\u2019s Home for Destitute Children.\u00a0 Admission is $5 for non-members, $3 for students aged twelve and over.\u00a0 \u00a0 For more information please call\u00a0315-363-0745<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Friday November 10th<\/sup>\u00a0at 6:30 pm the Morrisville Public Library will host a special Madison County Veterans Series interview with Robert Purple.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Purple served in the Air National Guard over a span of five decades.\u00a0 Early in his career he served under \u201cNagasaki Charlie\u201d Sweeney, the pilot who flew the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki.\u00a0 Later in his career he was called to active duty to serve during a prison riot in Auburn, assist in shipping aid to 3-mile Island during a meltdown in 1979 and during the 1980 Olympics.\u00a0 During the Gulf War he served as a Base Commander in the largest AOR (AOR stands for Area of Responsibility, at that time Schwarzkopf\u2019s Middle East Command).\u00a0 Bob will talk about these and other experiences.\u00a0 There is no charge for this event.\u00a0 For more information please call\u00a0315-684-9130<\/a>.<\/p>\n
