This year\u2019s theme, \u00a0\u201cHelping People, Changing Lives, Ending Poverty \u2026 Through Education,\u201dwill focus on the role of education in helping people to not simply move out of poverty, but to maintain self-sufficiency and break out of the cycle of poverty for good.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not an easy road for people to navigate, and the Symposium will identify some of the roadblocks many low-income people face, and how some people have successfully achieved their goals. The day begins with a Poverty Simulation presented with the help of UCAN (Utica Collegiate Access Network), followed by lunch and discussion, which will include testimonials from individuals who have struggled to obtain their education, what goals they set for themselves and how they personally succeeded.<\/p>\n
There is no cost for the day, but registration is required since space is limited.
