Bennett, 58, and\u00a0Michelle E. Beck, 47, both from 144M Lafayette Ave., Canastota, with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony.<\/p>\n<p>The charges follow an investigation that determined Bennett and Beck extorted more than $100,000 from an elderly East Syracuse man over the last year.\u00a0 The two were arraigned in DeWitt Town Court Sept. 28\u00a0and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center.<\/p>\n<p>Beck is being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secure bond; Bennett is being held without bail.<\/p>\n<p>Bennett and Beck are to appear in East Syracuse Village Court Oct. 3, 2017, at 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Sept. 28, 2017, State Police investigators with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in North Syracuse charged\u00a0Kenneth E.
