The Sheriff\u2019s Office is the highest law enforcement position\u00a0within the county, providing police, correctional and civil process services to your community.<\/p>\n<p>In Madison County, the sheriff has 155 personnel under his command performing those responsibilities while he oversees an annual budget of more than $10 million dollars. It takes a\u00a0special person to be an effective leader in such an important administrative position, and that is why I am recommending for your consideration, electing John E. Ball as your next sheriff.<\/p>\n<p>John Ball, following his active duty in the United States Navy, began his 20-plus years of public\u00a0service in the Onondaga County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office as assistant to the director of operations, followed by a 12-year career as executive assistant to the commissioner of corrections for Onondaga County, where I first met him.<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, then-Sheriff Allen Riley brought John Ball into the Madison County Sheriff\u2019s Office where he served as undersheriff, second in command. Since former Sheriff Riley\u2019s appointment to a state position in Albany, Undersheriff Ball has been the acting sheriff for Madison County.<\/p>\n<p>I have known John to be an honest and ethical administrator who has been effective in the many assignments he has had during his public safety career. Most recently I have enjoyed a good working relationship with the Madison County Sheriff\u2019s Office while John and I were both undersheriffs. It is my belief that John Ball is the best-qualified candidate for Madison County sheriff, and therefore it is without hesitation that I recommend him to you for your full\u00a0consideration this coming November.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sincerely, Warren R.
