Accomplished Division III Head Coach To Join Ronning\u2019s Staff<\/em><\/p>\n

John W. Beyer Head Men\u2019s Soccer Coach Erik Ronning has announced the hiring of Shane Rineer as the Raiders\u2019 new assistant coach. Rineer comes to Colgate after an impressive seven-year stint as head coach at Haverford.<\/p>\n

Rineer will fill the vacancy left by Mark Plotkin, who was named the head coach at DePaul in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled that Shane will be joining our staff and be a part of the Colgate Soccer and Colgate Athletics families,\u201d said Ronning. \u201cHe is a proven winner and a great leader who will be a terrific role model for our student-athletes.\u00a0 Shane’s work ethic and knowledge will enable him to hit the ground running and help this program continue to reach new heights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rineer guided Haverford to three NCAA Tournament appearances, three Centennial Conference Tournament Championships and an 87-38-12 overall record during his seven years at the helm. He orchestrated the Fords\u2019 first-ever run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2015 as Haverford recorded a program-record 18 wins.<\/p>\n

A two-time Centennial Conference Coach of the Year, Rineer was also named the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and a finalist for national coach of the year following the historic 2015 season. He developed 36 All-Centennial Conference selections throughout his seven years at Haverford, including 12 first team All-Conference selections.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would first like to thank Wendy Smith and the Haverford soccer family,\u201d Rineer said. \u201cIt has been a great seven years as the program has accomplished many great feats.\u00a0 I will miss the boys in the program and wish them the best moving forward.\u00a0 I would like to also thank Coach Ronning and the Colgate program for welcoming me.\u00a0 I look forward to being part of a their great tradition and becoming a Raider.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to his time at Haverford, Rineer spent two seasons as an assistant at Amherst, Villanova and Eastern. He also owns extensive club coaching experience.<\/p>\n

Rineer graduated from Eastern in 2006 with a bachelor\u2019s degree in Early Childhood Education. Rineer earned All-PAC honors as a player at Eastern in 2004 and 2005. He was a member of the 2003 and 2005 PAC Championship teams that went to the NCAA Tournament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
