Enjoy a special story time and learn how to expand your senses with a unique activity and\u00a0craft by Rogers Environmental Education Center.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s night. It\u2019s dark. It\u2019s time to go indoors\u2014or is it? The outdoors at night can be a scary place, but <em>Wait Till It Gets Dark<\/em>\u00a0will help young readers investigate the mysterious nature of night.<\/p>\n<p>Years of teaching children in the outdoors has given\u00a0the authors, renowned environmental educators Anita Sanchez and George Steele, firsthand experience in introducing\u00a0students to the joys of nature at night. They have led kids on night walks in a variety of habitats, including urban\u00a0settings. Based on these experiences, the book describes night-time landscapes and the nocturnal animals that inhabit\u00a0them, from desert coyotes to the frog chorus in a backyard pond\u2014and a corner of the bathroom at midnight where a\u00a0spider lurks.<\/p>\n<p>George Steele is an environmental educator working with schools, nature centers and museums throughout the\u00a0Northeast. The former director of the state Department of Environmental Conservation\u2019s Education Camp Program,\u00a0he received the Conservation Educator Award from the NYS Conservation Council, and the NYS Outdoor Education\u00a0Association\u2019s Gold Award for Lifetime Achievement.
