Carroll\u00a0to the Community Room at 3:15 p.m. Monday, April 16. The duo will read and discuss their new children\u2019s book,\u00a0Finding Diamonds.\u00a0The wonderful story captures the curiosity of youth and the magic of outdoor discovery.<\/p>\n<p>If you find a giant diamond, are you as valuable as a giant diamond? A young boy hopes so. While his family sleeps, he and his dog begin the hunt. His curious mind, nature, and the power of loving relationships lead the way to his most important discovery.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sue Carroll Duffy is a psychologist, play therapist and therapeutic storyteller. She grew up in Cazenovia; she lives in rural coastal Maine with her family.\u00a0Finding Diamonds\u00a0is her first picture book. Duffy works with the Passamaquoddy tribe and is developing a nature-based therapy model for children.<\/p>\n<p>Jane Woodruff Carroll lives in Cazenovia.\u00a0She has received numerous awards and exhibited in nationally<!--more-->juried shows, including the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.<\/p>\n<p>After listening to the book, children will head outside to hunt for a few treasures of their own. Books will be available for purchase following the presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Author\u00a0Dr. Sue Carroll Duffy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Library to host SUNY ESF workshop on reducing waste<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Cazenovia Public Library will host a family workshop on reducing material waste at 6:30 p.m.\u00a0Monday, April 16, in the Community Room. \u201cA Family Approach to Reducing Waste\u201d is presented by The\u00a0Syracuse University\u00a0Center for Sustainable Community Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>During the hands-on program, families will work together to find ways to use fewer materials in their daily lives and create less waste. Students from the State University of New York College of\u00a0Environmental Science and Forestry\u00a0will provide information and lead games and activities. Participants will learn to live a simpler life and to prepare an easy no-bake granola bar recipe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Library and Izaak Walton League present Young Naturalists: All About Birds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Cazenovia Public Library will partner with the Izaak Walton League to present the Young Naturalists program series for children ages 7 and older. The hands-on programs are designed to get young people interested in science and connected to conservation and outdoor recreation. Sessions are held in the Community Room on the third Thursday of each month. \u201cAll About Birds\u201d will be held at 4:30 p.m. April 19.<\/p>\n<p>The Izaak Walton League was founded in 1922 by 54 avid anglers dedicated to conserving outdoor America for future generations. The environmental organization is named after Izaak Walton, the 17th\u00a0century author of\u00a0The Complete Angler\u2014a classic book about the art and spirit of fishing. The League is one of the first conservation organizations to set forth an aggressive course of action to defend wild America by changing public policy.<\/p>\n<p>In \u201cAll About Birds,\u201d participants will learn to identify local birds by their distinctive calls and colors. Children will play games, listen for birds outside, and create pinecone bird feeders for their flying friends.\u00a0Registration is requested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Post\u00a0to be shown at the Cazenovia Public Library<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Cazenovia Public Library will present two free screenings of\u00a0The Post\u00a0at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 20,\u00a0in the Community Room.<\/p>\n<p>Steven Spielberg\u2019s\u00a0The Post\u00a0(2017) stars Meryl Streep as Katharine Graham, the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and Tom Hanks as Ben Bradlee, the executive editor of\u00a0The Washington Post.\u00a0Set in the early 1970s, the film recounts the controversial publication of the Pentagon Papers by\u00a0The Post\u00a0and\u00a0The New York Times. Graham and Bradlee must risk their careers to expose\u00a0a massive cover-up spanning three decades and four U.S. presidents.<\/p>\n<p>The film is rated PG-13 and runs 116 minutes. Free popcorn provided.
