\"\"LETTER: Tenney\u2019s debt hypocrisy is going to cost seniors<\/strong><\/p>\n

To the Editor:<\/em><\/p>\n

Rep. [Claudia] Tenney\u00a0talks a big game<\/a>\u00a0on the debt and deficits, but words are one thing, actions are another. When it comes down to it,\u00a0Tenney has been part of Washington Republicans exploding the national debt, and now her hypocrisy is threatening to cost seniors in cuts to Medicare and Social Security.<\/p>\n

Tenney voted\u00a0for the GOP tax [bill] \u2013 a handout to millionaires and large corporations \u2013 that is going to add\u00a0$1.9 trillion<\/a>\u00a0to the national debt.<\/p>\n

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office recently projected that after just over a year of unified Republican control of Washington, the annual federal budget deficit is expected to exceed\u00a0$1 trillion by 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now Washington Republicans are voting to advance a plan that\u00a0AARP says<\/a>\u00a0could potentially lead to deep cuts to Social Security and Medicare benefits. No one should be surprised\u2014this is what Speaker Paul Ryan\u00a0promised<\/a>\u00a0to do when he passed the tax [bill].<\/p>\n

Seniors have spent a lifetime paying into Social Security and Medicare and don\u2019t deserve to have their benefits exposed to cuts just because Washington\u00a0Republicans like Rep. Tenney can\u2019t keep their word.<\/p>\n
